About
Ben is currently living in Michigan. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. His work tends to focus in the sculptural, but often finds creative outlets such as photography, drawing, writing and spoken word poetry to be equally rewarding. When he is not pursuing artistic endeavors, Ben can be found on a run, walking his dog, ambling through the woods or elbow deep in an engine bay.
Artist Statement
Creation is a therapeutic process. Allowing myself to be improvisational and respond to the material connects me to an otherwise obscured facet of my mind. With my hands and body engaged in the physicality of the process, clarity develops in which deeper truths and insights are brought into focus. By communicating these truths through figurative and gestural works, the tone of my personal narrative becomes abstracted enough to no longer apply solely to my own experience, but instead become accessible to those who view it. By showcasing my own catharsis, I strive to create objects that evoke similar introspection from the viewer. Looking inward to better see the world around us.
